Man Sentenced to 12 Months Imprisonment For Stealing Nokia Phone Worth N1,500

For stealing a Nokia handset and N1500, a middle-aged man, Olaitan Adebayo, was on Monday sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by a Kwara state Magistrate court, sitting in Ilorin the state capital.



The convict was arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft, contrary to Sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.

DailyPost had gathered from information made available that Olaitan had gone into the shop of one Kolapo Musilimat and stole her bag containing the said items. He was apprehended as he made an attempt to escape with the stolen items.

The convict, however pleaded guilty to the charges when the charge sheet was read to him.

The prosecutor, Insp. Kareem Jimoh told the court that the accused had been convicted sometimes in January, 2011 for a similar offence of stealing.
He thereafter applied for a summary trial of the accused, since he pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

The Magistrate, Mr Nurudeen Adeyanju, sentenced the accused to twelve months imprisonment without an option of fine.

President Buhari appoints two executive directors to NSIA board

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of two Executive Directors to the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) Board. Mrs. Stella Ojekwe-Onyejeli has been reappointed as Executive Director for a second term. She is also the Chief Operating officer of NSIA.
