Eleven people were burnt to death in an accident at the Macmillan area, few metres before Soka Bus Stop, on Ibadan/Lagos Expressway, Ibadan. The occupants of the Mazda bus, a commercial vehicle, were coming from Ogido in Ogun State and heading to Beere in Ibadan, to attend a Wolimat programme of a family member. It was also gathered that most of the occupants were dressed in a uniformed ankara for the occasion. The propeller of the bus, according to the eyewitness, pulled out on the motion and hit the fuel tank, catching flame in the process. The driver of the bus, in an attempt to save the situation, veered off the road and hit a hip of sand by the side of the road. The driver and two passengers at the front escaped, but others were not so lucky, as the side door was locked. The occupants were reported to have struggled with one another in a bid to escape, while the 11 casualties, comprising eight adults and three children, were burnt to death.

For stealing a Nokia handset and N1500, a middle-aged man, Olaitan Adebayo, was on Monday sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by a Kwara state Magistrate court, sitting in Ilorin the state capital. The convict was arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft, contrary to Sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code. A final year Guidance and Counselling student of the Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, Anambra State, was allegedly killed on Saturday by some rapists after she failed to allow them to sexually abuse her. The killing was the climax of a series of rapes said to have become commonplace at the college in the past few months. The student, whose name was yet to be confirmed on Sunday, was said to be an indigene of Obeledu in Anaocha Local Government of the state. Corpses of the 10 traders murdered in Mugunu, Borno State by suspected Boko Haram members arrived at the Bodija Market in Ibadan North Local Government of Oyo State on Tuesday. Rotimi Amaechi miraculously escaped unhurt as a suspicious vehicle rammed into his convoy along Igwuruta road while he was on his way to the Port Harcourt International Airport. The incident, according to eyewitness was caused by a Toyota Avensis, with registration number, AAA 767 AQ, that rammed into the Governor's convoy from the opposite side of the dual carriageway, just after the C4I Security Post, along the Port Harcourt International Airport Road. A credible military source in Nigeria who confirmed the attack to to SaharaReporters said the incident occurred at the Government Secondary School in the town of Mamudo at about 2am. The militants seem to have regrouped in a commando style to carry out the butchery, some of the victims reportedly burned alive despite soldiers all over the place enforcing the military emergency. Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members killed a soldierand abducted three others during an attack on the soldiers on Thursday night in Potiskum, Yobe State, a military source revealed. The source confirmed the incidentin Damaturu on Friday. The source, who sought anonymity as he is not permitted to talk to journalists, said the corpse of the deceased soldier was brought from Potiskum and deposited at a hospital morgue in Damaturu, the state capital. "The attack was a bad one because a soldier was killed and the terrorists kidnapped three other soldiers to an unknown destination," he said on Friday. "Some of our search team are combing within and outside the neighborhoods of Potiskum for the missing soldiers. A helicopter gun ship had been deployed from Maiduguri to join in the search team this morning," he added.
