2019 elections: Buhari’s victory is guaranteed, says Akpabio

Former Senate Minority , Godswill Akpabio , says God has ordained the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice , Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, in the February 16 election . Akpabio stated this in Ibadan during the inauguration of the Oyo State and South -West coordinators of the Presidential Support Committee. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Akpabio , who is the PSC National Coordinator, is also a former governor of Akwa- Ibom . NAN reports that the PSC is a support group for the re -election of Buhari and all All Progressives Congress candidates in the country. Results have started coming in from different polling units across the country as announced by INEC officials in the ongoing Presidential and National Assembly elections. More than 70 candidates slugged it out to determine who will lead Nigeria for the next four years. However, two of the lot, incumbent President  Muhammadu Buhari  of  APC  and  Atiku Abubakar  of  PDP , seem to be the masses favorite using the rallies as a yard stick. And According to the figures recently released by INEC, there are currently 84,004,084 registered voters compared to 67,422,005 in the 2015 elections. Atiku vs Buhari: US institute reveals who may win presidential election

The United States Institute of Peace, USIP, has predicted that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari may win the 2019 presidential election. USIP said this in a report it published on the forthcoming general election in Nigeria. The report also claimed that having peaceful election in Nigeria will depend on the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. The report said though Nigerians feel their expectations were not met by the current administration, it would not cost Buhari his victory. The USIP report contradicted the two predictions by The Economist magazine, which stated that Buhari would be defeated in the February poll. Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has been appointed as head of a team of observers to Sierra Leone’s general election scheduled to take place on March 7, 2018. He will serve as leader of the Election Observation Mission of the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA). Jonathan left Nigeria for Freetown on Friday. A statement by his spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze, announced the appointment. It said the mission has observers drawn from civil society organisations and election management bodies from across the continent. Eze stated that the former president “is pleased to be part of the process in support of a peaceful and transparent election in Sierra Leone.” EISA is a not-for-profit election-focused organization that is working with national, regional, Pan-African and global partners throughout the African continent. 2019: Fr. Mbaka predicts winner of Imo governorship election

Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, has predicted the winner of the governorship election in Imo State. The fiery preacher said the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State, Senator Hope Uzodinma will win. Mbaka spoke during the 2018 harvest and bazaar celebration at his Adoration Ground in Emene. President Muhammadu Buhari was represented at the event by Senator Uzodinma, who announced N2 million for breaking of kolanut by Buhari. He also announced that Buhari will build a hospital in the adoration ground. Prophet T.B. Joshua of Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, has denied releasing any prophecy regarding Nigeria’s upcoming presidential election in February 2019. President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will slug it out with Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other presidential candidates next month. Nigeria: INEC speaks on postponement of Saturday’s presidential, national assembly elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked reports that the body was planning to postpone Saturday’s elections. Presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled to hold in few hours. National Commissioner for Voter Education and Publicity at INEC, Mr. Festus Okoye, told DAILY POST Friday night that Nigerians should ignore the rumours. His words: “If stories are flying about, allow the stories to fly. What they are reporting is not true.” Asked to respond to information that INEC commissioners were in a meeting, Okoye said: “Yes we are in a meeting but we have not taken such decision.“This is election period and as commissioners, we meet every time”.
